Old Paintings vs Recent Pictures

I have been trying to identify the places that the renowned artist Nicholas Roerich had painted in Kullu and Lahaul few decades back. These are the few places that I have identified.

Duni Chand

Nicholas Roerich was one of the finest russian painter, writer, archaeologist, philosopher, and a public figure of his time. He is known as a dedicated activist for the cause of preserving art and architecture during the times of world war. He was nominated several times to the longlist for the Nobel Peace Prize

Roerich lived in various places around the world until his death in Himachal Pradesh, India. It is said that he made around 1800 paintings in his lifetime out of which many were inspired by the Himalayan mountain ranges. The Nicholas Roerich Art Gallery in Naggar, Himachal Pradesh is a tribute to him, having a priceless vintage collection of his artworks and paintings.

Now lets have a look at some Nicholas’s paintings and the recent real pictures (as identified) in one frame.

You can visit the Nicholas Art Gallery at Pulag Rd, Naggar, Himachal Pradesh 175130
