How to reach Basecamp?
Our base camp is Shitkadi, a small village in Sonamarg. Shitkadi is accessible via road and is 2-3hrs from Srinagar. Shared cabs are available on this route on regular intervals. Cabs can also be arranged through us on request. Our campsite in Shitkadi is a beautiful place and participants are expected to reach there after lunch.
The trek starts from Shitkadi, a village in Sonamarg. Shitkadi is accessible via road and is 3hrs from Srinagar. Our campsite in Shitkadi is a beautiful place and participants are expected to reach there after lunch.
The day starts with some 3hrs of ascent offering views of Sonamarg and Thajwas valley followed by a decent meadow walk taking you into the forest which opens into the river valley resting at Nichnai. Nichnai is a vast widespread land enclosed by mountains, rivers, waterfalls and green meadow.
The trek starts with rocky terrains which slowly ascends taking us to the top of Nichnai pass and then descending to a vast green meadow followed by a long easy walk in a widespread colorful landscape. We camp and enjoy the sunset by the flowing river. In the neighbourhood lies the stunning twin lakes Vishnasar and Krishnasar.
Today is a very long walk and we would touch the highest elevation of this trek. It begins while passing the most colorful twin lakes Vishnasar and Krishnasar. The lakes are huge and we get to see them from various heights as we take sharp ascend by the lakes. The ascend is robust but feels wonderful to reach to the highest elevation of this trek i.e Gadsar pass. The high pass offers an amazing panorama of the beautiful landscape with twin lakes as cherry on the top of the cake.
After lunch, we start descending followed by an easy walk through the colorful flower to reach yet another pristine Gadsar lake. We continue our walk through the beautiful fields to reach our campsite.
The trek starts with a slow ascend offering views of famous mountain Nanga Parbat. We keep walking and ascending only to pass by seven small lakes which is collectively known as Satsar lake. As we uncover colorful lakes one by one, the day goes by and we reach our campsite after crossing army camp.
Our trek for today starts with crossing the rocky boulders over the mountains. One literally has to walk on the big huge rocks and boulders to move forward. It is difficult and definitely amazing. We then take an ascent to the reach to ever cloudy Satsar top. It offers the view of yet another majestic twin lakes Gangabal and Nandkul. We camp near one of the lakes over green meadows and tiny flowers.
It is buffer/rest day. We have been walking continuously for last 6 days, and its good to just be static and reflect the best of nature to just chill around and probably have bath in the blessed Gangbal lake. Gangbal lake is highly sacred and is huge in circumference nearly 2.5kms. We can explore around Nandkul lake and the majestic Harmukh peak while enjoy company of horses and sheeps grazing, take a sun bath lying in the soft green grass with tiny flowers. One can also go for fishing (permits involved). This buffer day is the ultimate vacation day in a paradise whilst being in the most isolated parts of Kashmir.
This is the last day of the trek and is a bit task. It starts with a meadow walk; slowly ascending to the forests followed by a long steep trek down in the Jungle. Somewhere in forests, you start getting sights of a civilization which you last saw on the first day of the trek. As we reach village Naranag, the awe-striking Kashmir Great Lakes trek comes to an end! You can either choose to stay in this village or take a cab to explore nearby destinations like Dal lake, Nigeen Lake, Srinagar markets etc.
A wonderful serenity has taken possession of my entire soul, like these sweet mornings of spring which I enjoy with my whole heart. I am alone, and feel the charm of existence in this spot, which was created for the bliss of souls like mine. I am so happy, my dear friend, so absorbed in the exquisite.

Far far away, behind the word mountains, far from the countries Vokalia and Consonantia, there live the blind texts. Separated they live in Bookmarksgrove right at the coast of the Semantics, a large language ocean. A small river named Duden flows by their place and supplies it with the necessary regelialia.
It is a paradisematic country, in which roasted parts of sentences fly into your mouth. Even the all-powerful Pointing has no control about the blind texts it is an almost unorthographic life One day however.
